Background
Windy has been working in freelance and independent contracting since 1995, with a few permanent roles in graphic design and IT along the way. She enjoys the freedom and variety that come with project based work. With more than 25+ years of hands on experience across a wide range of industries and projects, Windy brings a rare combination of technical expertise, design sensibility, and problem solving intuition to every collaboration. She is our ringleader — and our unicorn in charge.
The Unicorn Collaboration was created out of a desire to make technology feel a little less overwhelming and a lot more magical for small businesses and entrepreneurs. We maintain a small client base to ensure highly personalized service — no cookie cutter solutions, no one-size-fits-all packages. Just thoughtful, strategic, beautifully executed work tailored to each client’s unique needs.
Although we are a bit of a Swiss Army knife when it comes to creative and technical solutions, our strongest tools are in IT and web design / development. Whether you need a brand new website, a digital revamp, or someone to help connect the dots between design and function, we are here to help.

Company
Windy began doing enough graphic design projects in the mid-1990s that she decided it was time to choose a business name. Inspired by her love for old cars, Idle Screw Designs was established in 1995. (For those who may not know, you adjust the idle on an old car using the idle screw on the carburetor.) Years later, she registered her domain, and idlescrew.com officially came to life in May of 2001.
In early 2013, Windy decided to rebrand, which led her away from using her Bel Air in the logo. This change created a disconnect between the name and the branding, so in April of that year, she adopted a new name to reflect the growing focus on exceptional consulting work.
After several years operating as a consulting firm, Windy wanted to better capture the collaborative nature of her work. And that is how The Unicorn Collaboration was born — same excellent service, now with a name that reflects the magic of working together.
Design Philosophy
There are many designers who focus on highly animated or flashy work, but that is not our approach. At The Unicorn Collaboration, we believe in simplicity, functionality, and user appreciation.
Windy prefers clean and straightforward designs that clearly communicate information without unnecessary complexity. Her motto is simple: deliver the message in a direct and easy to understand way. Of course, every project is different, and the final design always reflects the specific needs and preferences of the client.
When needed, Windy calls on a trusted network of skilled associates to bring additional expertise to the table. That is the spirit of our collaboration. But at our core, we believe in keeping things simple, effective, and easy to use.
